Simulations of the European Parliament have been taken place in the last five years, we now welcome the Euro-Parliament 2022.

The Euro Parliament Palma is the most faithful simulation to the real European Parliament that allows students to understand the political world around them and learn how to face this world by defending their ideas. After hosting the last five years to this same simulation, we welcome the 2022 session in the Palma Auditorium coordinated by François Cornu and Mary-Anne Pereira, as well as the help of Alexandra Beguin & Rosana Mendes. Since the first EU Parliament simulation in 2018, where only three schools around the island of Mallorca participated, we now, in the 2022 session, have new additions like the Lycées Français of Düsseldorf, London, and Jerusalem. Nearly 15 schools from all over Europe participate, including Lithuania, with over 250 students participating.

Support was given by Olivier Ramadour, the French consul of Catalunya, Aragon and the Balearic Islands, as well as Vincent Perrot the cultural councillor, Catherine Gufflay the pedagogical director of the MLF and finally Rodolphe Echard, Academy inspector – Regional pedagogical inspector (IA-IPR) – Établishments and school life at the AEFE. Gratitude goes, not only to the supporters, but also the management of the Palma Auditorium, Marcos Ferragut, all of the technical staff, as well as the assistants and journalists.

Just like the real European Parliament, it is composed of a president, in this case Guillaume Dihn from the Lycée Français of Alicante, and two vice-presidents from Lycée Franco-Hellénique Eugène Delacroix in Athènes, Yara Chadha and Evangelos Michail Papaisidorou. The parliamentary activities are divided into six commissions, with themes such as the Ukrainian conflict, women rights, agricultural matters, ecological and even economical ones. Each committee has their own chairs (representing real European Parliament ministers) and they are composed by different political party deputies.

Speeches were made by François Cornu, the supporters, presidents, co-presidents and chairs who explained the subjects that will be dealt with during these three days.

The student Olivia Roma Rubí from the Lycée Français de Palma, who was recently in Paris for a music competition, played the European to open the ceremony.
